EchoI lie in bed. This makes eight nights; still sleep evades me. The previous seven nights are as a fragmented mirror, swept together and discarded in a wastebin. My eyes hurt from fatigue so I close them. The darkness reflects my shattered psyche. It never sleeps. The brokenness inspires something feral, something egomaniacal. No man's eyes are content closing when others remain open around them. Sometimes they are quiet; one or two of them are asleep but the rest are awake, watching. This makes eight nights of fighting to breathe. The only sounds are my shallow pulls of air and their blinking; their dragonfly wing eyelids flapping, slapping to Echo

HedConstrictive linen bandages compose makeshift moccasins. Roughly hewn red cord binds threadbare culottes to a thick, fibrous tunic. Muscles borne of toil and ritual press against the tailored textile. His ruddy skin is tanned. A single strand of swollen, sable pearls click against one another in a dangling necklace. No other adornment is obvious save an unctuous pigment encircling his lips.

Cyclops: I am UndoneThere are few creatures of myth that maintain man's rapt attention as well as the mighty cyclops of ancient Greece. Could it be possible that the true inspiration for such an alien creature be rooted in earthly reality?

Gorey DetailsThe wry cartoon shown here was posted on Harpers earlier last month and has been a topic of heated debate among me and compatriots.   
Al may mean well, but as usual Harpers cuts to the bone. What alternative is there to alternative (corn) energy? Journey to Forever provides a rather exhaustive amount of information concerning biodiesel and its production and corn oil is most definitely not at the top of their list.   
The most generously yielding oilseeds include the Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis) and a few of the greasier landscape trees. Interestingly enough the first non-arborescent perennial on the list is Jatropha curm Gorey Details
